trinidadIn its quest for modernization via new technology, the Customs and Excise Division is getting ready to launch its new automated system, ASYCUDA World.

Over the past few months intense training and rigorous testing on ASYCUDA World has been ongoing.

Recently, the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Commerce conducted training in ASYCUDA World.

Officers of the Customs and Excise Division collaborated in the initiative by fielding questions and concerns about the new system and the future of the industry. It is the hope of the Customs and Excise Division that training conducted by the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Commerce and other leading agencies in the business community throughout Trinidad and Tobago will position key stakeholders for a smooth transition into the new automated system.

In addition to supporting the WCO FAST recommendations ASYCUDA World has many benefits. These include increased services for the trade community, simpler procedures, easier documentation, increased capabilities for accounting and the implementation of standards defined by ISO, UN, WCO and WTO. The system also provides full support for e-government and has the capability to inter-operate online with external/governmental systems and databases.
