| CCLEC Management Training Programme |
![]() ![]() The CCLEC in conjunction with the University Canberra in Australia are in the process of finalizing the Management Training programme for Customs officers in the Caribbean region. The courses will be delivered online by CCES, supplemented by local tutors trained and certified by CCES. The programme will consist of two components namely: Certificate in Customs Management and Executive Diploma in Customs Management. The Certificate will include: Managing in the Customs Environment; International Trade Terms; Governance & Integrity; Introduction to Government & the Legislative Process and Introduction to Caribbean Customs & Excise The Executive Diploma will include: Customs Management I; Revised Kyoto Convention I; Managing Operational Activities; Customs & Excise Audit; Accounting for Managers and Intelligence Management in the CCLEC Region.
The training as outlined above will consist of the eleven subjects using online delivery methods, assessment methods and the use of the UC web portal (MOODLE). The total study requirement for individual subjects is a minimum of 30 hours, made up of face to face (intensive) study per subject of 10 hrs and online study per subject of 20 hrs. CCLEC is looking for regional experts who will be able to deliver the face-to-face training. The university will provide a train-the-trainer training for interested persons who will become the trainers for the face to face component. The prerequisites for trainers have been set forth by the university and they are: -->Over 5 years experience in Customs -->A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent academic/tertiary qualification -->Experience as a trainer/teacher highly desirable -->Fluency in English
The train the trainer training is tentatively scheduled for June/July 2009 for two weeks (10 working days) and will be held either in a location in the Caribbean or at CCES, University of Canberra.
